Girls time out

What a great time! We had an impromptu girls afternoon on Friday and it was so much fun. Terrie and I planned on going to the movies to celebrate her birthday. We invited all the "girls" who could attend. Kim, Keali, and Brandy had to work - we sure missed them. But, the rest of us - Grandma, Mello, Bri, Chelsea, Chasity, the babies, and myself went to see Mama Mia. I had seen it last week with Scott and loved it. We went to lunch at the Bakery at Thanksgiving point and then to the movies. Scott took all the boys to the Legacy center - there's a wonderful first. He and the boys reported a great time, too. We need to to it again soon.

Welcome Asa!

Jaxon welcomed his new baby brother yesterday! Asa Gideon was born at 4:41, July 9, 2008 weighing in at 7 lbs 12 oz and 19 inches long. Mello text earlier in the day that Gabe had prayed for a fast and easy labor and that is just what happened. BriAnna is greatful for those prayers. Her epidural was great, her labor wasn't long, and even though he came posterior, her delivery was good, too. Doc Willis almost missed it. He got stuck in traffic on the way to the hospital from his office. But he did make it in time to catch and stitch! Good job Doc! Jaxon is so excited to be a big brother and if you ask him who the baby looks like, he will tell you that it looks like him.

July Fourth

July fourth was a very nice quiet family day. We attended the traditional fireman's breakfast - well - at least most of us did. Some of us slept in and it was great! We had a little bbq and (amazingly enough) Scott attended the fireworks with us from the vantage point at Cabella's. Danny and the girls joined us there. Shayne entertained everyone with his artistic interpretations of light stick art. Actually the glow sticks were the hit of the evening with everyone.

A Big Day

I won't go into too much detail here because it is Dan and Brandy's big news, but I must mention that Carmen, Maria, and Alex officially became Wilburs today. It was a bitter-sweet day. The legal process caused it to be too long in the coming and leave too many casualties in the wake. The judge took the opportunity to tell the girls to remember that they are beautiful and will be successful. I keep the hope in my heart that Michael will be as well.

The down side

While we were getting ready for the movie, Keali was heading off to work when she got in an accident. Her car has a new boo-boo right where the old boo-boo was and she has a dandy case of whip-lash. It does not seem quite right that she has to suffer with so many health issues this year.

Lehi Round up Week

We decided to participate in many of the local festivities this year - the first being the beginning of Arts in the Park. Scott had a 24hour shift at the fire station but he was able to meet us at Wine's for most of the evening. We spread a blanket and the kids played most of the evening. They encouraged lots of audience participation. Our kids were much slower to jump in than usual but with some encouragement from a couple of ward members, they all went up front.

The second event we attended was on Monday and it, too, was at Wine's Park. It was a picnic and local entertainment. We had Gabe and Tug with us and it was great fun. We didn't pay too much attention to the entertainment, it was fun to just laugh and talk and play. We did discover that Ricky Evans' wife does a mean Patsy Cline!

The next activity that we have attended was the outdoor movie at Vet's. Shayne roped off a great spot for all of us. We took popcorn, treats and drinks and the kids played until it got dark enough to start the movie. It was great fun! It brought back great memories for me of when my parents would take us to the old drive-ins. We would pop corn, pack a cooler and go early to get a good spot. Then we would play on the swings at the front until dark. I hope the kids made memories that they can cherish like that.

Fashion lessons

As often happens, we were just chatting and got on to the subject of shoes and fashion. We were giving Beni some grief about the dress shoes and jeans fashion statement that he prefers to make and Andy decided to demonstrate.

A bit of time in Vegas

We had a chance to stop and see Eric, Raquel and Ava on the way home. Boy has Ava grown. They all seem healthy and happy. Their new apartment is really nice, too.
